About me:
Father, romantic, dreamer. Apprentice games developer, 3d modeller an animator, word writer, veg grower. Retired. Seeker of ‘the good life’ [still – although all-in-all things are pretty good right now].
Why can’t I sing like Frank Sinatra, dance like Fred Astaire, and act like Humphrey Bogart?
About me writing:
For twenty or more years I absorbed writing advice waiting for the magical moment when I’d ‘write’. I aspired to write and that’s what happened – I aspired, nothing else. Then I read this on Chuck Wendig’s terribleminds blog:
“Here are the two states in which you may exist: person who writes, or person who does not. If you write: you are a writer. If you do not write: you are not. Aspiring is a meaningless null state that romanticizes Not Writing.”
So I write. Not a lot, but I write.
About me game developing, modelling, and animating
I’ve always been a bit of a frustrated developer, at one point creating games on ZX Spectrum and Atari ST.
About Of All The Bars:
A deliberate misquote of Rick’s line from Casablanca (simply the best film ever made): “Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.” @ofalltheginjoints is too long for twitter, @ofallthebars is just right, but you’ll find me as @russellbowman.
This is my digital space.
Everything I say here is said on behalf of myself.
I think it is worth noting that I ‘launched’ this blog on January 30th 2012 (my 53rd Birthday as it happens) to “encourage me to achieve a long-standing desire to write fiction“. Yea, right. Procrastination lives on!
